Lancope has put together a CTF challenge* complete with prizes, and now we want you to try it!
You’re probably not alone if computers aren’t what pop into your head when you read “capture the flag.” In short, and in this context, a CTF is a technical competition based around solving security/hacking challenges. The nature of these challenges can vary, however subjects such as web application testing, cryptography, forensics, binary analysis, and intelligence gathering are common focuses.
If you’re interested in both computers and puzzle solving, then CTFs are the perfect mix for you. Taking a stab at a CTF challenge is a fun way to test your ability in familiar subjects or dive into unknown waters to learn something new.
We’re really interested in seeing how people (attempt to) solve this challenge. We’re also interested in general feedback to see what lessons we can take out of it.
To participate, just send an email to ‘email@example.com’ requesting the challenge. We’ll send the challenge out to everyone at the same time when the event starts on Friday, June 6, 2014.
There will be four prizes given out in total:
- Registered contestants who complete the challenge by 9:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern time on Monday, June 16, 2014 will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $80 Amazon gift cards.
- Additionally, registered contestants who complete and return the feedback form sent out with the challenge by 9:00 a.m. U.S. Eastern time on Monday, June 23, 2014 will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $45 Amazon gift cards. Successful completion of the challenge is not required to complete the feedback form.
We hope to see an entry from you!
