ArcSight Adds Support for Lancope’s FlowSensor Appliance
Good news for ArcSight users! ArcSight has added support for NetFlow v9 and more importantly Lancope's FlowSensor appliance. ArcSight users can now gain visibility into network flows without the need to configure routers or involve the network team. The FlowSensor is a low-cost, appliance-based network device that connects to an Ethernet SPAN port or TAP to generate enhanced NetFlow v9 events suitable for direct integration with ArcSight's Express product line. NetFlow Without the Hassle One of the issues holding back the use of NetFlow by security teams is the fact that the network team had to be "on board" with the idea… READ MOREExternal AC/DC power bricks: deal breaker in the datacenter?
Quick off-topic question: How do you feel about rack mountable devices in the datacenter or closet that have an external AC/DC rectifier - i.e. a "power brick"? We're looking into additional form factors for our FlowSensor appliance technology and some of the smaller prototypes we're evaluating have external bricks rather than built-in AC/DC converters. In my experience bricks in datacenter cabinets can be difficult when it comes to cable management. The upside is that the appliance is very small and needs less cooling. Given the size of such devices you could deploy it almost anywhere: under a desk, on top of… READ MORELancope’s FlowSensor: Will it blend?
Quick FlowSensor Recap In case you're new to the Lancope product line, the FlowSensor is a low-cost network appliance designed to connect to a SPAN, tap, or mirror port on an Ethernet switch or router. The FlowSensor captures Ethernet frames and processes them into NetFlow v9 records which are then sent across the network to Lancope's StealthWatch NetFlow collector. It's a great solution for areas of your network where you don't have any NetFlow support or in situations where you're concerned with the impact of enabling NetFlow features in your router. The FlowSensor even comes in a *free* virtualized flavor suitable… READ MORECATEGORIES Virtualization
