Lancope’s StealthWatch Can Result in 259 Percent ROI According to Independent Research Firm
Lancope webinar to discuss results of firm’s “Total Economic Impact” study
ATLANTA, June 25, 2012 – Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, has announced that its StealthWatch® System can result in a 259 percent return on investment (ROI) in three years, according to a June 2012 commissioned study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Lancope. The study, “Total Economic Impact of Lancope StealthWatch,” also revealed that StealthWatch can produce a payback period of just 10 months. Lancope will host a complimentary webinar featuring Forrester Consulting on July 19 to discuss the results of the study. Study results were gathered through due diligence and a series of five in-depth interviews with an existing Lancope customer. According to the study, “In the past, when the [interviewed] organization had a security incident, a cross-functional team consisting of security, networking, desktop support, and the help desk worked together to resolve the issue. Depending on the scale of an issue, these groups would be involved for three to five 10-hour days to address the issue. After the deployment of StealthWatch, this cross-functional team is able to leverage the solution to address most incidents within a couple of hours.”
The study also reveals that StealthWatch was implemented not only by the organization’s security team, but also its networking group. “Prior to using Lancope, the networking team was using an alternative network performance management solution,” it states. “StealthWatch was more robust than this solution and offered a greater level of detail when troubleshooting network issues.”
The full list of financially quantifiable StealthWatch benefits cited in the study includes:
- Alternative-solution cost avoidance
- Maintenance cost savings for a replaced third-party solution
- Reduction in efforts for security incident detection and management
- Reduction in end user downtime due to security events
- Impact of improved visibility to help desk and tier-one to tier-three support
- Networking staff productivity gain
“Over the years, we have heard from many customers about the high levels of ROI they have been able to achieve by obtaining end-to-end network visibility with our powerful, flow-based StealthWatch monitoring system,” said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. “We are thrilled to now have these metrics quantified and documented by Forrester Consulting, and hope that they help current and future customers make well-informed decisions about protecting their network and security infrastructure.”
By leveraging NetFlow, IPFIX and other types of flow data, StealthWatch provides an extremely cost-effective and comprehensive view of everything happening across a network for expedited security and performance troubleshooting. Unlike conventional defenses that typically rely on signature updates to detect attacks, or that only cover limited segments of the network, StealthWatch can seamlessly uncover the full range of threats facing today’s enterprise – from APTs and other nefarious external attacks, to insider threats such as policy violations and data leakage. StealthWatch can also support other efforts including compliance, forensic investigations and capacity planning.
The system is scalable to up to 3 million flows per second to meet the needs of even the largest, most dynamic networks. Advanced capabilities including application, identity and mobile device awareness, as well as monitoring for virtual environments, further enhance troubleshooting efforts and enable organizations to address rapidly-evolving network trends and challenges. In addition to protecting Global 2000 enterprises and hundreds of government entities around the world, StealthWatch also plays a key role in the Cisco Cyber Threat Defense Solution.
