Oldcastle Architectural Products Group Chooses Lancope’s StealthWatch Network Behavior Analysis Which Utilizes NetFlow toImprove Security, Network Performance and Network Visibility

~Greater visibility across enterprise increases network efficiency and faster problem resolution~

Atlanta, February 12, 2008 — Lancope®, Inc., the provider of the StealthWatch™ System, the most widely used Network Behavior Analysis (NBA) and response solution, today announced that Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) has deployed StealthWatch to monitor network activity across 215 locations. The StealthWatch System provides end-to-end network visibility that enables Oldcastle APG to identify and resolve network bottlenecks and security concerns with greater efficiency.

Previously, Oldcastle APG had no way to visualize who or what was causing network slowdowns and internal IT staff used multiple tools in attempts to troubleshoot incidents. With StealthWatch, Oldcastle APG gains a unified view of network and security operations. Now all regional network managers, helpdesk and network/security engineers at Oldcastle APG use StealthWatch to pinpoint the traffic and users associated with network and security issues and expedite problem resolution.

StealthWatch transforms raw NetFlow data from over 200 sites across Canada and the U.S. into valuable network and security intelligence. Alerting administrators anytime an interface in Oldcastle APG’s environment exceeds a predefined threshold, StealthWatch enables the IT staff to easily and quickly determine the root cause of network slowdowns. For example, StealthWatch helped identify streaming Internet radio as the cause of delays with the company’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) package. From a security standpoint, StealthWatch also helps Oldcastle APG quickly discover and diffuse virus infections.

In addition to leveraging the existing network infrastructure by capturing and analyzing a rich set of traffic statistics from Cisco IOS® NetFlow, StealthWatch also works closely with existing deployments of security technologies. Currently, Oldcastle APG uses IBM® Internet Security Systems® Proventia® Intrusion Prevention System in conjunction with StealthWatch to gain contextual awareness of potential threats. StealthWatch’s network behavior analysis approach complements pattern-matching systems by offering scalable security and optimizing network operations across the enterprise.

“StealthWatch enables our support team to make strategic decisions about networkand security management based on a unified view of network, security and user information across the enterprise,” said Tony Jaroszewski, Network/Security Engineer, Oldcastle APG. “Not only does it provide network performance monitoring to ensure our applications run optimally, StealthWatch also identifies internal and external threats through behavior-based algorithms.”

StealthWatch delivers detailed network performance analysis for capacity planning, helping Oldcastle APG forecast bandwidth upgrades. The solution also improves Oldcastle APG’s IT problem resolution and helpdesk functions. When troubleshooting issues with users in real time, the identity tracking capability in StealthWatch enables Oldcastle APG’s helpdesk to see users traversing the network, the ports and services in use, and any alarms associated with a specific user. StealthWatch easily detects bandwidth and network user violations and can tie user identity to rogue activity.

“Oldcastle APG’s exhaustive evaluation to select StealthWatch fully validates our successful and scalable approach to optimizing network and security operations as part of a streamlined process,” said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. “Not only can StealthWatch provide immediate visibility into all network traffic flowing between remote sites, but it also enables customers like Oldcastle APG to easily analyze trends, patterns, and anomalies, and make the decisions necessary to optimize, improve and secure network and application performance.”
