What: Applications and Implications of Network Behavior Analysis
Where: ISACA of Central Ohio Monthly Meeting
River Club Confluence Park Restaurant

Why: As the network behavior analysis (NBA) and response space emerges, strong similarities and differences arise between signature-based and behavior-driven technologies. McDaniel will explore why behavior-based technologies are gaining popularity. Without a reliance on signatures, these behavioral technologies enable rapid worm and compromise detection as well as effective mitigation. As multi-functional solutions, behavior-based technologies offer network management capabilities, performance monitoring, policy enforcement and root-cause determination. Through a flow-based approach that utilizes statistics and algorithms rather than pattern matching, a behavioral profile of the healthy network traffic is created to enable both network and security administers to rapidly detect subsequent changes to the health of the network.
