Lancope® PRESS RELEASE

Foundry Networks and Lancope Secure High Speed Networks with Scalable Solution for Network Behavior Anomaly Detection and Response

Companies Pioneer Use of Native sFlow Data from Network Switches and Routers to Secure Network Infrastructure

SAN JOSE, CA. and ATLANTA, GA, OCTOBER 24, 2005 – Foundry Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY) a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching, routing, and Web traffic management solutions, and Lancope®, Inc, the leading provider of network behavior analysis and response systems, today announced a partnership through Foundry's Security Alliance Program to collaborate on security solutions using StealthWatch Xe for sFlow, the industry's only fully sFlow-enabled anomaly detection system. The solution combines Lancope's award-winning StealthWatch security platform with Foundry's sFlow packet sampling technology, embedded in its networking products, to deliver a network-wide solution for anomaly detection without the costly deployment of sensors throughout the network.

Today's businesses require network visibility across the entire network in order to detect and prevent accidental and malicious behavior by internal users. To address this need, Lancope and Foundry collaborated on StealthWatch Xe for sFlow to leverage Foundry's high performance Ethernet switches by analyzing sFlow data provided directly from Foundry's switches and routers. Because Foundry's switches and routers support sFlow as a standard feature, customers can now simply, "turn on" sFlow and direct it to Lancope's StealthWatch Xe appliance, which baselines network traffic to detect and prevent network anomalies. This approach provides a scalable and cost-effective method to provide total network visibility for IT Security managers and is complementary to security solutions such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems and other signature-based security appliances. In addition, Lancope has developed a Custom Response remediation script that enables StealthWatch Xe for sFlow to command Foundry routers and switches to block malicious traffic at the network edge. StealthWatch Xe for sFlow is currently in test at several government, university and enterprise sites throughout the world.

"Increasingly, traditional security controls are falling short in protecting internal networks," said Harland LaVigne, president and CEO of Lancope. "We are proud to partner with Foundry and be the first to leverage sFlow. The ability to monitor, detect and respond to suspicious and malicious traffic throughout the internal enterprise network is critical. StealthWatch Xe for sFlow enables organizations to significantly reduce the time and costs associated with detecting and responding to zero-day attacks, worms, policy violations, network misuse and other anomalies."

According to Paul Proctor, senior vice president at Gartner, Inc., “Organizations are increasingly finding value in analyzing flow data to identify behaviors on their networks that are hard to detect using other methods. The visibility provided by network behavior analysis through the analysis of natively available sFlow can be a valuable security strategy enhancement.”

“Lancope is an important partner in Foundry’s security umbrella,” said Gary Hemminger, director of product marketing at Foundry Networks. “We are seeing a lot of interest from our customers in this type of solution. The combined solution scales across all size networks and provides customers with a powerful tool for detecting and responding to network threats and misuse.”

Foundry and Lancope will jointly host a “Security Benefits of Foundry sFlow” webcast at 12 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 10, 2005. Register for this online event at https://lancope.webex.com/lancope/onstage/g.php?d=753366010&t=a.
